What:                An educational and networking program for gifted children and their parents

Where:             Davis Studio, 916 Shelburne Road, South Burlington, VT, 05403.  Parking available.

When:               Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 1:30-4:30 pm.  Check-in begins at 1:15 pm.

Cost:                $20 per family, limit of 2 parents & 3 children (grades K-6). Registration form, on back of this page, needs to be filled out. Deadline for registration is March 11, 2018.  After that, cost increases to $30 per family, if there is room.  Register early; space is limited!

Children’s activities will run concurrently to parent sessions, and will be designed for children in grades K-6 whose parents will be attending the parent sessions.  (Other arrangements should be made for younger and older children.)  A snack will be served.  There will be a choice of two rooms with different themed-activities for children— an Ocean Room, and an Egypt Room:

Ocean Room:

Learn about fascinating ocean creatures from jellyfish to cuttlefish.  Create your own mixed media ocean-scape using printmaking and a smorgasbord of art materials!

Egypt Room:
Explore Egyptian gods and hieroglyphics, then create your own Egyptian inspired artwork on papyrus.  Look at Egyptian costumes and ornamentation to create your own wearable Egyptian accessory!

Parent Schedule:

1:15                  Check-in begins for both parents and children

1:30-2:15           First block.  Two choices for parents:

  • Over-excitabilities in Your Gifted Child, with Lucy Bogue, MA or
  • Educational Evaluation of Your Gifted Child, with Trevor Tebbs, PhD

2:30-3:15           Second block.  Two choices for parents:

  • Navigating Your Gifted Child’s Education, with Carol Story, PhD or
  • Homeschooling Your Gifted Child, with Lucy Bogue, MA and panel of parents of homeschoolers.

3:30-4:00           Third block.  “Ted Talks” about local enrichment opportunities

4:00-4:30           Time for informal Q&A for all sessions, and for connecting with local enrichment program folks.

4:30                  Program ends.

Beverages will be provided at break times for parents.  We hope you can join us… come meet other families with gifted children, and learn how to help your gifted child shine!

Green Mountain Parent Connections – October 2017

This is the third in our fall series of informal gatherings for parents and professionals in Vermont.  It is an opportunity to share the joys and challenges of guiding gifted children.  Experts in the field of gifted education will be present to offer input.
